What is the difference between chipboard and fibreboard?

Have you ever been faced with a furniture choice and didn’t know what material the cabinetmaker was actually suggesting?

At times like that, it’s easy to nod at anything, as long as they stop sprinkling those unfamiliar acronyms up their sleeve… the resulting piece of furniture may not be a completely positive surprise afterwards.

Let´s clear it once and for all.

What we’ll explain:

  • What’s the difference between chipboard and fibreboard
  • What you use lamino boards for
  • What you use OSB for
  • What does the abbreviation MDF
  • What HDF
  • What is softboard

1. What is chipboard?

Chipboard (abbreviated DTD) is made from from chips, shavings or sawdust .

The individual parts are then glued or pressed together.

It doesn’t look very good, so it’s more likely to be used where it’s out of sight. For example, it can be used under the upholstery of a sofa etc.

What to use lamino boards for (abbreviated as LTD)

Chipboards can also be used to make lamino boards.

It is created by gluing decorative laminating paper and pouring melamine resin over it.

The use of lamino boards is more frequent, it is used to make kitchen doors or cabinet bodies.

Lamino boards are one of the cheaper materials.

What is OSB board

You may come across OSB board. It consists of a large chips and splintersthat are compressed in multiple layers and bonded together with a polyurethane (or other) binder.

You will find OSB in the construction of houses as a load-bearing and sandwich structure or wall cladding. Its great advantage is its water resistance..

2. What is fibreboard?

Fibreboard is made from wood fibresto which glue and additives are added to improve the properties of the board.

What is the proverbial MDF

MDF , from the English medium density fibreboard, is a board with a medium density of fibres. They are usually single-ply, and are stronger and better quality compared to chipboards..

What is HDF?

When a board has a high fibre density, we refer to it as HDF.

HDF boards are hard and can be printed, laminated or veneered well.

What is softboard

Another type of fibreboard is softboard. It is a pressed board made of lignocellulose fibers. The fibers are felted and naturally stick together.

Big advantage is that softboard is eco-friendly , using zero chemicals and aditives. It also pleases with excellent thermal and acoustic insulationproperties. You will often see softboard used for flooring.

What is the best use of a container?

How to make the best use of the container?

Containers in all (im)possible ways

The containers won us over with their variability of use, quick and dry preparation and installation.

We’ll show you our 4 proven ways you can use them. We already think they’ll win you over, too.

How to use the container?

  1. Gastro container
  2. Wellness container
  3. Container house
  4. Charging stations for electric bikes from containers

1. Gastro container

Most often we choose with our eyes. When it comes to food, this is even more true. Have you ever found yourself drawn to a nice visual, even though you don’t know what food or drink is waiting for you there? A container stand is exactly what will draw many eyes.

For example, we designed and manufactured a container for an ice cream vendor to accommodate all the necessary equipment.

There is plenty of room inside for:

  • 2 ice cream machines
  • Kitchen
  • Refrigerator
  • Work space

The exterior was a combination of trapezoidal sheets and wooden slats. We did it all in two weeks.

A similar concept can also be used for gastro stands at festivals and similar events, or for cafes and franchises in busy places.

Well-deserved rest after work.. what do you think of

2. Wellness container

Do you also dream of a romantic wellness stay with your partner, but you still haven’t found the space in the everyday hustle and bustle? Well, what if wellness came to you?

When you build a wellness container on your property, you have well-deserved relaxation just a few steps away.

What can such a wellness container offer you?

  • Sauna
  • Hot tub
  • Shower
  • Relax zone

Everything fits into one container, which we will bring ready to your home and your evenings after work will take on a new level. We will tailor the container and its equipment to make you feel at home.

Like at home… so we’re wondering, do you want to move straight into the container?

3. Container house

In cooperation with designers, we provided a container home for one young man. He wanted to use his parents’ property but at the same time live in his own. We built a comfortable 2+KK from 2 containers for him.

The house has everything you’d want to find there:

  • Bathroom with washing machine
  • Bedroom with built-in wardrobe
  • Kitchen with dishwasher
  • French window in the living room with direct access to the garden

We managed the installation within days, connected the containers together on site and connected the house to the network.

In our opinion, this is a perfect solution. And most importantly, mini houses are the trend of the next fewyears. What do you think?

You can’t sit at home all the time though, so how about some sport activities?

4. Charging station for e-bikes

The pace of these days is accelerating every day. It’s no wonder we want to go faster and faster on our bikes.

Do you have experience with e-bikes? If so, you know that you can work hard on the e-bikes too. You just have to drive further or higher. However, when you’re a long way out, the last thing you need is a dead battery.

The people from Kolovna know this very well (maybe even from their own experience), which is why they approached us with the concept of charging stations from containers.

Charging station from the container:

  • We used retired shipping containers
  • Each container contains 3 charging stations
  • Charges 6 e-bikes at once
  • Guarded by camera system

The most troublesome thing for us was the electrical installation. Eventually we invited other experts to help and came up with a great solution. Not goona lie, it took us a while to fine tune everything, but now we are pouring one station after another.

 What about you?

What is the best way to use containers for you? In our portfolio we have used containers as practical interior decoration, meeting room, background to the golf resort, guest house and others.

Have you thought of what you would use the container for? Let us know, we’ll be happy to help with a solution just for you.

Café for sale

One of our valued clients, and we can say a good friend, is offering café equipment for sale and we decided to help him out a bit.

The cafe was destined for the mall. Due to a pandemic, the owner was forced to close the business after about a year, so we are now looking for a new home for the equipment.

Possibility to sell in parts. Price is negotiable.

HAST RETAIL COME TO AN END... OR?

We’ve got one of those news…… ugly case.

Since we founded Hast Retail, we have always followed the basic principles. Principle number 1: Get your suspects in order. - Principle number 2: To create confusion among the suspects

Hast Retail is therefore finished.

But a commemorative gathering is not in order, it would be a shame to mourn. Over the years, a new entity has emerged that is able to offer a much broader portfolio of services, products and implementations, where retail is only a part, logically leading us to the conclusion that Hast Retail no longer represents what we are able to offer.

We are now Hast Group.

“Group” or team, squad, grouping, simply a unified whole that is capable of many things. And that is what represents us now.

Confusion or order? In any case, one of our principles.

The services we now offer will take you from th initial ideas, through design, technical documentation to successful implementationAnd it doesn’t matter whether it’s for interiors, woodworking, metal fabrication or small modular and container buildings or retail, because we are now Hast Group.

The individual divisions of this unit are able to fully cover the above and operate in different sectors, areas of your needs and requirements.

We feel at home in the above areas and would be delighted to make the Hast Group a home for your ideas and requirements.

Yours, Hast Group

Just a quick note for our business partners – our legal name changed to HAST GROUP s.r.o., please keep that in mind when invoicing :).

Big See Awards

Big See who?

The Big See is a major global event that takes place in Slovenia every year. It aims to enhance the commercial success and attractiveness of South East Europe by evaluating and promoting the high-end architecture to be found here. On our behalf, we can say that they succeed at a high aesthetic level.

Guess who was awarded..

We are very pleased to have been able to be part of it this year, and even more so not only as observers, but also as double awardees. No one else could go to receive the prize but people connected with our company in heart and soul – the managing director Jan Pribyl and his wife Iveta.

How was it?

Conferences on interesting current topics with great guests were interspersed throughout the day and the presentation of the main prize was combined with a gala dinner. There was an opportunity to get to know people from the industry and a lot of inspiring, often very young people, passionate about their work.

Do you know which projects won?

As you know, our winning projects were a guesthouse for Kolovna in Jeseníky Mountains and a shop and warehouse in Ostrava. If you haven’t seen the projects yet, we think it’s a good time to fix that by clicking on the link here. You can also read a little about them on our social networks. Did you have opportunity to attend a similar cultural event? Let us know, we’d love your tips.
