  5. Bus engine as a table...

Engine as a table and tracks on the door

Engine as a table and tracks on the door

At the end of last year, we had the opportunity to work on a beautiful realization in Ostrava. Can you guess by the title who was the commissioner of the project?

We won’t keep you guessing for long. The realization was for the Transport Company in Ostrava and can be divided into 2 parts.

Part 1 - offices

In the first part we equipped the employees’ offices and the DPO’s general director. You may think that there is nothing difficult about it, right? But when we saw that it was a total of 110 offices, 500 pieces of seating furniture, and more than 300 different types of desks, we admit, we were a little bit rattled.

Sharing is caring, elevator addition

In addition, we had to plan everything very precisely in order to meet the moving schedule. Keeping the general contractor’s finishing work running with the furniture assembly was essential. All of this was done with 1 elevator, which we shared. It was quite stressful sometimes, but our installation team got everything done.

Finally, about the engine and the tracks

Of the atypical features, we would like to single out 2 in particular in the general director´s office:

  • A coffee table, but not just any coffee table. This table is based on a bus engine. The glass top then has a sandblasted DPO logo.
  • At first glance, you’ll also be struck by the wall, all paneled in walnut. The wall also contains two integrated doors with the same decor. To avoid making it look too bulky, we have used stainless steel accessories on the wall and doors to imitate tram tracks.

Part 2 – ticket office

The second part of the project is the public ticket office, which is ready for your visit.

In the room, you will be struck at first sight by the atypical stone counter.

Let there be light

The entire supporting core of the counter has been designed so that the areas visible to the customer can be illuminated. We used Krion Luxmaterial for the illuminated cladding .

Illumination is provided by RGBW strips. Total 150 bm. The color sections of the counter can be changed remotely. The top surface of the counter is protected by a compact board with a color-coded core. It is therefore ighly resistant to damage and scratches during daily use.

We thank DPO for the opportunity to furnish their new home.

Special thanks also to our installation team who spent long shifts on site including weekends, holidays, and sometimes overnight. Thank you!
